Second International Conference on Strengthening Peace and Security Co-operation towards Democracy and Development to take place in Vienna
VIENNA, 27 April 2015 - A high-level conference focusing on how to enhance co-operation in conflict prevention and peacebuilding among the UN, regional organizations and civil society organizations will take place on 29-30 April 2015 in Vienna, Hofburg.
The event is organized by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), the Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) and the Organization of American States (OAS).
OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, International IDEA Secretary General Yves Leterme, UNU-CRIS Director Luk Van Langenhove and GPPAC Executive Director Peter van Tuijl will give opening remarks.
Practitioners and experts will participate in thematic panel discussions aimed at identifying recommendations to strenghten the global conflict prevention and peacebuilding architecture through enhanced cooperation among international and regional organizations and the civil society.
The opening and closing sessions will be open to the media, and an outcome document will be shared following the event. The agenda of the conference can be found here.
